Wrong on so many levels

The abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. troops was abhorrent. Period. Whether we define these people are terrorists, murders, insurgents… It doesn’t matter. Because how we treat them defines us.

So I’m appalled that a U.S. Senator (Republican, of course) — on the very panel “investigating” this situation — announces his arrogant disregard for the world’s outrage. Apparently, he feels that because we’re “right,” we should be able to do as we please. (Or rather, as he pleases.)

Coincidentally, this is the same day that the International Red Cross disclosed that 70 to 90 percent of Iraqi detainees were likely arrested by mistake.

To be somewhat fair, I must acknowledge the following: “Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, left the committee room during Inhofe’s remarks. Asked outside the meeting room whether he agreed with Inhofe, McCain replied, ‘No way.’ And Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, said, ‘When you are the good guys, you’ve got to act like the good guys.'” (Same source as original post: CNN – GOP senator labels abused prisoners ‘terrorists’.)
