an R rating is meaningless to this movie, and to most movies.

if it were really an issue, it would have been rated NC-17. that would have been the only way to significantly reduce its audience.

the ratings mean nothing in this case. i think the true gauge of post-distribution govt censorship will be how many theater franchises pick it up.

“If they are old enough to be recruited and capable of being in combat and risking their lives, they certainly deserve the right to see what is going on in Iraq,” he said in the statement.

thats an incorrect statement anyway. 15 and 16 yr olds arent old enough to be recruited. an R rating wouldnt prevent anyone of draft age (or a year younger) from seeing the movie.

this article is seeking to find an argument where there is none.
