It isn’t telling me anything I wasn’t already aware of. The problem with us suddenly switching gears and indulging these sweeping ambitions (and their incredible drain of personnel and resources) of democratizing the Middle East through massive force, while we’re supposed to be fighing a specific terror threat needs to be addressed more honestly by the supporters of the Iraq invasion/occupation.
Plus, despite all the “good intentions” of the people who started this war, inevitably many will see it as American imperialism and resist it. I am far less optimistic about sweeping success than the author, although hopeful as always. And I am far less charitable toward the “motivations” of those who started this war; they remain highly suspicious, to me.
