roads to enlightenment

As the Zen Masters say, “there are as many roads to enlightenment as there are beings in the universe.” Gerald’s path ran through the Hudson Valley and intersected with that of Francis at the foot of The Headless Horseman Bridge. It is there that he often returns and can sometimes be seen, mumbling something incomprehensible to his long lost friend, whose soul lingers yet in his memory. Perhaps he is explaining to him the secrets he has uncovered in his study of the Gnostic texts, which describe the Kingdom of God to be within and all around. Just pick up a rock and there it is. Or of an earlier tradition which was handed down to Moses on Mt. Sinai along with the Ten Commandments. An oral tradition in which God imparted to Moses the very secrets of creation, the nature of God and man, and the structure of reality itself. A blueprint of secrets so powerful that Moses could entrust it only to the Leaders of the Tribes of Israel. Thereby keeping it out of reach of the common man, until very recently… that is!
From these studies now open to all, he was able to piece together the missing parts of his own tradition. Into this structure fit the Egyptian, Platonist, Christian, Gnostic, and Judaic pieces of the puzzle. The story of Creation, The Tree of Life, and Original Sin took on a new light. This study of a hermetic Kaballah pulled it all together for him, giving definite structure to his reality. Pointing to his place as that of Malkuth. Short and strong with wide shoulders and thick legs, he is the trunk who looks upward while limbs and branches begin to sprout, and others come to finish his work.
