but not to burst your bubble, assuming you’ve never been published, here’s a word of advice:

the bigger publishing houses tend to shy away from 1st person narrative, unless it was written by michael jordan or someone hot or famous, or unless it’s perfect.
1st person is the most difficult ‘voice’ to write effectively in, although it’s the voice we all want to write in – catch 22 huh?

this isn’t law though – just my experience. (the first person crap that i throw up on this board is merely experimental, not intended for publication.)
