eating lunch. my roommate, her male coworker and i. her coworker making us laugh constantly; voracious speaker. master of tongue in cheek stories. such a silly man.

how it is that we jumped to the topic of domestic violence with all it’s seriousness to counteract his antics, i don’t remember. i don’t even remember his ramblings past the fact that i was laughing. only my roommate’s story managed to store itself in my recollection.

she remininced about a family reunion, in which her father’s family visited. her aunt went off on her uncle and they began to argue suddenly. at which point the family exited the scene, leaving them two behind on the porch, yard…outside. her uncle proceeded to beat the shit outta her. ripping chunks of hair out her skull. and when someone made to try to stop the fight, a female family member responded to let them be… “she deserves to get beat. for disrespecting him so.”

this was back in the day when they were all still kids, but it turns my belly still that to know today, this second, a woman is getting bashed.

i can’t stand to think anyone getting abused. anyone. as the co-worker pointed out, some men get beat up by their wives too. so true. this i remember about his conversing. more, the agreement him and his wife made, were “if i hit you, you hit me, it’s over”

we sat around trying to finish our lunch.
