my brother got me into kerouac about ten years ago, then followed gins and burroughs and hunter s, then i got into more like leary and hemingway and carlos casteneda, even still play a bit with sci fi… anyway, i’ve been a wanna be but lazy writer since my teens, now almost 30, had just started getting back into it, lots of poetry. my bro had discovered litkicks and was actually a total dick about it- kinda mocking it and making up stuff for fun and laughing at people’s responses. i love my bro, but thought that kinda behavior was below him. i started surfing regularly (strictly a voyeur) and then timidly started contributing. the atmosphere is so encouraging and helpful, and has rekindled my love of the word. so thanks everyone who’s serious about writing and critiquing and playful in this arena, and fuck you to anyone who mocks it, including you, bro.
