So many creative people down thru history used different kinds of drugs, but i don’t know if the drugs made them more creative or if they needed the drugs for other reasons, like depression or boredom or something. Let’s say a writer wants to express very personal feelings. In some societies, especially in the 50’s or 60’s, there might be such a fear to reveal oneself to be different that the writer might need drugs or alcohol just to get up the nerve. There are many things one could say nowdays that would not be nearly as shocking as they were in the 50’s & 60’s, so it could be argued that we don’t need drugs as much now as we did then. But that’s not necessarily correct. Then we come to the fact that different drugs do different things.
