To be clear…

I’m not doing the work that ‘doesn’t feel right’….yet. I’m looking for Al Qaeda/Taliban, which I have no problem with. It’s the impending possibility of attack that I have conflicts about.

Nonetheless, Canada is a wonderful place to live. The warmest place is British Columbia – Victoria (on Vancouver Island – where I’m based out of) sees about 70-75 weather all summer long. Spring tends to be rainy, as does winter. Temps drop below freezing occasionally, but you might see snow once a year. The Gulf Islands are similar in temp, and very beautiful, with lots of hidden gems in which to live. Mainland BC & the Fraser River valley have similar temps, but slightly cooler. Of course, you have access to Vancouver, a large and modern, beautiful city.

Moving east, Alberta has cold winters, although Calgary (modern, western city) experiences Chinooks in the winter as the warm maritime air rushes through the mountain passes. The temp can jump from minus 20 to plus 55 very quickly.

The Prairies, Northern Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & New Brunswick are cold cold cold cold cold. You better enjoy winter sports to live here.

Southern Ontario can be very hot in the summer, and reasonable in the winter – maybe a couple snow storms per winter. They also experience the tail end of anything ripping north up tornado alley. This is the industrial centre of Canada…lots of cross-border trade, most of it connected with the auto industry.

Nova Scotia tends to be cold, but is tempered at times by the maritime effect. Similar to Maine weather, and actaully the coastal areas of New Brunswick are similar to Maine.

If you’re shy of cold, though, BC is the place to be. Not anywhere though, as inland BC is as snowy and cold as anywhere else. Victoria, Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, Vancouver, Fraser River valley………these are all very nice. BC government is the most left in Canada…if you lean towards socialism this is the place. Lots of social conscience here, as well.

Feel free to drop an e-mail if you’re looking for more info without sullying up these boards.

Cheers, Mike
