America had a great opportunity to use it
as a tool to better understand the reasons
for these terrible acts.
France’s paper said “we are all Americans”
They were with us. Everyone was.
And now, “W” has blown it and, here we are.
My God, what have we done?

The Garden
We come naked in to the world; in bare need
yet we wear the thread of notice, with a coin
to plant the seed.
We laugh, we sing, we dance to the joy our being
until, one day, we are called to kill.
Now, we lay in mud and rain
with bullet laying in our brain
just fabrics away from our beginnings of the Earth
Our time is gone for we have failed to know our comfort.
We peel down the layers of life
and lay naked again
And in the end we are left with only what we had
In our native dress, we go beyond mere time
What have we done, my friend?
We celebrate killing.
like a crop that came in good.
We leave the garden; take from the field, the food
and, celebrate our wonderful war, and victory
We have emptied the world of living lives
But, what have we done…that is good?
