of the keepers of these works wanted them to belong to the “collective soul”, why didn’t they donate them in the first place? who decides what’s universal, mh? perhaps i’d like my laundry to become a universal responsibility, but i doubt that will happen.

and don’t museums own artwork to keep and/or display as they see fit? why can’t i see what i want to see when i want to see it? because things cost money, time and effort for someone. do museums charge admission fees? can everyone get in? who should foot the bill here? me? you? bill gates?

to sum it up, i don’t see anything wrong with private collections.
