there is art in anything – butterfly’s wings beating a-colour, the artistry in teamwork of ants…..and in any sport. a finely executed football or hockey play, the way 90 feet between baseball bases seems the PERFECT distance….

as for the barbaric nature of hockey….that assumes a punchup between two consenting adults is barbaric….now the stickwork is bad, to be sure…..but if a poet slanders someone else or uses someone else’s words or murders his/her lover or uses words for bad purposes, that doesn’t make poetry barbaric – it makes the poet barbaric, or something like that…..

sport can be art
sport can be fun
sport can be releasing
sport can be necessary
or one may not like sport

i’m just glad we’re not all the same
