This won’t make any sense to anyone who isn’t familiar with neurology and data structures, but I just had this crazy though that each neuron is like a node in a linked list or tree structure, in that they contain both data, and information regarding other the location of other nodes. However, instead of being like the nodes in linked list or tree structures that point to only one or two nodes, each neuron connects to thousands of other neurons, so it would have to have thousands of “pointers” to other neurons. Damn, I’m going to have to stew over this one for a bit….
