well, it was a pretty short shindig, as walter and his family, who dropped by on their way home from holidays in austria, still had a long way to drive that day, and therefore couldn’t stay too long.

it was short, yes, yet it felt as if it could have lasted longer easily – after the first minutes of confusion, when faces and voices and inner images try to slip into one shapeless identity, words started to flutter and flap their wings like birds learning to fly, and the room was quickly filled with voices.

walter was intense and shy, soft in voice and humour and seething with thoughts, and the hours of coffee and talk and books and laughter went by like nothing.
