your last sentence applies to most education forms….it all needs to be supplemented by parents…my kids learn very little at school that my wife or i don’t dissect with them…schools are not generally very good at providing the why, but they’ve got most of the what figured out, and lots of the who, where and when, and some of the how…

but in the end, without the why, kids just get confused…that’s where parents come in i believe….

mind you some places are walking back on the what, what with the disturbing trend towards creation vice evolution…
