comparing both events, I can’t help but think the murder of JFK stunned people more. Maybe I think that because I was so young and impressionable, but to me it seem the killing the president just cut the head and heart off America. Stunned and clubbed us into a greiving submission to helplessness.
No one will ever forget those images of the collapsing towers and the inhuman carnage that resulted. But life seemed to just go on around it. We still had the same leader and administration in place making soothing talk and statements of American prideful revenge towards our enemies.
When Kennedy went down, it was like no one knew where to turn to for answers. It was so bizzare. In an hour from the murder we had a new leader who was just as in shock as he people. His long Texas drawl sounded so alien from what we had grown use to from the national “daddy figure”.
I don’t know, Ronny. Lets see how some of the other old farts handle your question. I’m curious too.
