poetry readings vs. cabarets

yeah, Levi, there’s a big difference between a poetry reading and a mix of spoken word with dancers & singers in a cabaret type atmosphere

i totally agree with you that it was unfortunate that the dancers didn’t get to even see or hear the performances of the poets …. it made for a totally different experience than what you called the “give and take” of a poetry reading

we’re trying to figure out how to resolve these type of glitches …. and i think the answer is rehearsal time with everyone present so the group feels more like a group and not so factioned…. so the dancers and singers all get to hear and see every performance

i think rehearsal time like this would create a better unity…

but how do you fit in rehearsals when people are coming from all over the country for the event and don’t arrive until the day before? it’s a difficult thing to work out

all in all, though, i agree that this first Cabaradio was a great event and that the audience truly enjoyed it! I think each and every performance by every participant was absolutely terrific and there was a unique blend of talent and variety.
