see it as perfection. I see its flaws, but it’s intentions and successes suffice. No artistic endeavour can achieve perfection, and you make many credible observations. But do Jim, and the band as whole, hold a place beyond the iconic bare chested young lion of ’66/’67? You say he’s a rock god, and yeah, hell he’s entitled to that mantle, but does that extend beyond the barbie doll jibe aimed at him in Oliver Stones movie? Does his mind interest you? Do you feel that synthesis – that word again! – of mind, philosophy and understanding of existence?

I’m going to Paris in three weeks. Gonna pay my respects while there. Some people go to Pere Lachais to drink and puke in honour of Jim, and that’s cool. I’m just gonna pay my thoughtful respects.
