untangle me

give me germs
tongue to tongue –
nervous breath pants.
plead rhythms with
a chance cheek touch
by a fingerprint brush.
hush the room with desire
and i will set fire to
the delinquency of
company, solitude
depleted by forgets
and multiple critiques.
i am weak in the presence
of silent indemnities
my feet wrapped
like sheet mummies,
my heart in
the right arch.
untangle me!
loose the beat
of our blood clock,
tock tock, the measured
moment gasps.
and when your pen
grows large enough
to write me
from every
angle,
untangle me
from forbidden futures
which mock
my name!
love is a staid sacrifice,
blamed often for its torture,
its pride –
wide as windows,
close as open gables.
able is the companionship
of committed time.
the uniting of solitude
creates perfect rhyme.
i arch my back
to meet your slow
arrival. i know
nothing about
love’s survival
other than to breathe
down its neck with
passion.
untangle my feet
from the covers.
i do not ration the gift.
i lift my legs to squeeze
the center of gravity.
nativity bore me.
i am its slave.
time, the forfeit of dividends,
escorts us to the grave.
i invite you
to accompany me
hand in hand – give
me germs, nervous
breath pants.
i can offer only
minutes untangled,
and strung like pearl,
a necklace to share
while the world
remembers
the mention
of us in
a whisper.
