A Literary Anthology. Philip Lopate, ed. Published by the Library of America. It’s a library book, I’ve renewed it twice. It contains short stories, non-fiction, essays, and novel excerpts by:
Irving, Thoreau, Dickens, Poe, Cooper, Fuller, Whitman, Melville, Twain, Crane, Millay, Cather, Keller, Fitzgerald, Wharton, Miller, Hughes, Hurston, Williams, Cheever, Baraka (Leroi Jones), Baldwin, Puzo, Ginsberg, Ellison, Burroughs, and Robert Moses (NYC’s master planner under Fiorello La Guardia)… to name about half the contributors. Find it!

The Literary Kicks message boards were active from 2001 to 2004.
