I found some interesting stuff about the origins of some of the Naked Lunch material in Barry Miles’ biog of Allen Ginsberg.

Do we really need to know it, though? I worry slightly about turning the beats into the object of personality cult. Naked Lunch opens doors in the mind while providing loudest belly laughs in C20 literature – why should we care that such and such routine can be traced back to such and such an evening?
