Well Big Sur for me had a far greater impact then On the Road…in fact On the Road seems insanely pretensious compared with big sur…im glad i read it when i did, since i was still nurturing goofy ideas about tuning in turnig on etc, and the book clearly shows that kerouac was not a sponsor of hippie bullcrap (this was taking place in early sixties, when Ken Kessy was coming on the scene) and was truly a writer…one of my fav books by him if not thee fav.
