Yeah, Welsh can be gritty. However, living in Glasgow, Scotland for 1 year after moving North from my home in Newcastle, England (the greatest city watched over by an industrial angel) the whole Glasgow underground scene has become a very tiresome genre. Sensationalism has replaced all perception of working class existence in Glasgow, which can cause a city to become static, complacent. There seems to be no desire to move away from this culture of apathy and nihilism. Interesting though, the scene on Trainspotting where Begbie throws the pint glass over the balcony in the pub and causes a ‘minor riot’ is my local pub called The Crosslands. Good, cheap Guinness!!
