You summed it up right there. But that’s what I love about Vonnegut, the digressions, the fact that he’s now 80 and says “fuck.”

I really enjoyed Timequake. But if you expect it to be a novel, you’re going to be disappointed. Rumor has it he’s working on something else, but Timequake was billed as his last work. On one hand, I’d like to see something new from him, but Timequake is a perfect last work for Vonnegut. It touches on most if not all the points he’s made over the years, and as such it’s best read after you’ve enjoyed several other books of his.

I wasn’t especially impressed with Hocus Pocus. I did like Jailbird, and Slaughterhouse-Five, Breakfast of Champions, and Mother Night are all favorites.
