Here’s Something Completely Off The Subject!

Baby don’t you shed a tear for me
I wouldn’t want to waste your time
You talked a lot of trash and you lied to me
Babe you never even tried
(from “Burning Our Bed”)
I’m on the rooftop and I’m staring at the stars
Looking down on all the cars, I can see you
In the window of your favorite corner bar, but your reach is just too far, and I might as well be on Mars
Baby, I can’t fly
If I could I’d come down to ya
Maybe I should try
(from “Might As Well Be On Mars”)
How’s do you like those excerpts? Aren’t they just dripping with sarcasm and suicidal thoughts? I also especially like “The Ballad of Dwight Fry.” These are just a few examples of one of the most underappreciated poets of our time — Mr. Alice Cooper! Every song he writes tells a story, and most are tragic. I may be in the minority, but I think it’s great stuff. Oh yeah — for added atmosphere try listening to the lyrics of “Eighteen” while reading “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” If you don’t get a creepy feeling, you must be dead.
