i’m glad you’ve tracked it down – it’s a fucking masterpiece… i read a nick cage biography a while back called ‘bad seed’ (written by ian johnston. first published in great britain by little, brown and company, 1995), that featured an excellent photograph of cave while he was working on ‘and the ass saw the angel’ at thomas wylder’s apartment in berlin…

cave with palms on bended knees in an alcove above a doorway, a tin cup grasped in his left hand, cigarette dangling from his mouth, dressed in a white singlet, sleeveless denim jacket and jeans… standing on a mattress surrounded by books, glasses, random pieces of paper and a typewriter.
