You might check out Douglas Coupland, most notably “Generation X.” Ditto for Kathy Acker (intense, Burroughs-fueled prose, that is often difficult to understand, at least I think). Also, Bret Easton Ellis (I’d say “Less Than Zero” or “The Rules of Attraction.”).
