“People always pigeonholed me. Fourty -five years ago I was ‘obviously on the brink of death from drug and drink’. Sixty years ago some English poet referred to me as ‘poor old Burroughs!Deep in addiction and only hurting himself’. How do YOU look at this point? Poor old Burroughs may look a shade better.”
