Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is the Bodhisattva of compassion. The name is from two Sanskrit words. Avalokita means He who looks down on the world with compassion.Ishvara means the Lord and is a common name for God in Indian religions. Avalokitesvara also means he who is looked to for help. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva constantly sprinkles pure and holy water onto all beings in the universe bestowing blessings of merit and longevity.
