Hemingway in Cuba

Read in the NYTimes of saturday, Sept 21 (see link if it still works – http://www.nytimes.com/2002/09/21/books/21HEMI.html)
that Cuba is about to open to scholars a trove of Hemingway material that has been stored in the basement of the Hemingway house (Finca Vigia) in Cuba. Apparently it is in dire need of preservation and an American team of scholars & conservators will be working to get the material stablized and copied.

Anyway, one thing the article noted, which I hadn’t realized, is that Hemingway spent 1/3 of his life in Cuba, some 21 years. Apparently, biographers & literary historians have had a difficult time reconstructing & documenting those years for lack of source material but this development will likely change all that.
