i have just completed studying frost at as-level, to me the haunting ‘frozen’ and hostile imagery of nature, which frost builds in this poem,is used as pathetic fallacy,i interpret the setting of winter(natures death) and the narrators ‘stopping’ and apparent attraction to this seemingly hostile environment as a desire to die, the narrator is glad to be isolated, glad to be around death, this is disturbing and shocking. another poem which captures this idea is ‘desert places’,similar imagery but conveys different ideas of death and isolation.
