(my opinion) was trying to hard to be a writer. From other people one gets the impression he did have an unschooled talent that showed in his letters (the great sex letter) but when he sat down to ‘be a writer’ I think his mind jambed up.

Sax is a hoot if you don’t try to understand to much. Just dig the remembered experiences of childhood; hear smell see the words.
