2 kinds of synapses:

1. Chemical transmission
Chemical substance is used as an intermediate to convert an electrical signal in the presynaptic cell into a response in the postsynaptic cell.

2. Electrical transmission
Fastest synapse. No chemical transduction involved.

If sparks can fly through the air, or a “ball of lightning” can flail around in the atmosphere briefly, why not electrical brain impulses, if they are strong enough?

And remember, a very brief dream may be remembered as taking a long time.
