he’s an elitist in the worst sense, but the poetry is not…he’s a remarkable contradiction in terms. i’m currently writing a paper on him vs the beat movement, or in the part of the beat movement. he’s definently had considerable influence. when wasteland was first published, it was considered too jazzy… even if he didn’t mean it to be. anyhoo, just a thought.
