Sirens echo throughout the barren streets,
A plastic bag bounces through the tense air,
searching for a place to fall
as it travels down the way
A dry brick falls to the earth
Releasing its grasp
It could hold on no more
A child crouches behind a rusty dumpster
Its shelter from the biting, cold December days
Its stomach gnarling at a passing rodent
Its throat burning from the acid rain
"Its a wonderful life" creaks from an old boom box

This is a wonderful life
Just be glad your alive
