butterfly dreams, please critique
I saw flickers of dreams behind your eyes,
More you than your physical existence.
Once, when we both were young,
We carved our names into trees,
We thought it would last forever,
Life is life we thought,
Life can shatter we found.
You feared I would crush your dreams,
As if they were something to be found,
And then disposed of.
But I knew they were to be held,
Like a butterfly,
On the end of an outstretched finger,
Ready for flight.
But I couldn't see that you were a butterfly,
I just wanted to be a part of you.
