as with anything Thompson related, I take it with that sarcasm in there. The love/hate thing is a good point. But...I haven't run across any compliments toward Jack...Even "Ode to Jack" seems to be poking fun.
I know he got along well with Ginsberg, though.

Talking writing influence-wise, I think Thompson was more into F. Scott, Mencken, Rand, those people.

I don't know if I meant to say he hated anybody, but I get the impression that he sort of looked down on the beat thing, especially when it became a scene. But, shit, I suppose half the people involved kind of felt that way.

Anyways, I am not making myself very clear today, but I got your point.
