stone garden

Posted to Action Poetry

there are ruins hidden
behind strangulating coils
of dark ivy and briar windings
spider mites that weave
silken death shrouds
to entangle life

central to the garden
is a distorted shadow
telling time
in chipped sundial hours
erroded years that lost
their bloom
through the sleighted hand
of death and deep foreboding

the flora have flown
to where sun steps
away from the cold darkness
where fungi crept
multiplying a musty dank
prohibiting the rose

the stones alone speak
of their stoic contentment
while the feet of travelers
pass through the gray garden
on to where
the yellow meadows warm
