just listen to me now
before you take that final bow
won't ask for promise or a vow
would any of it matter, anyhow

when this day ceases to exist
once we've had our final tryst
these fine words you won't resist
just kiss me softly on the lips
i've never ever felt like this

the curtain rises, you're still here
to guard me from my darkest fear
these swollen eyes will shed no tear
you listen now with open ear

we both applauded for some more
anticipating what's in store
sensing why and what love's for
the fervent crowd shouts encore encore
