the name you gave me
like sweet, bitter chocolate
slowly swaying
through my life story
crushed pepper hot
anyone but me
as i am nothing
but bad habits
drinking chai tea latte
smooth as silk
i think of the warm
sand of yesterday
and the scent of lilacs
presented by delicious
company
a journal of me
as i imagine one of many
songs in my head on the
instruments i used to
play
for a million dollars
right now
i'd do just about
anything
except instruct
people to pray
to a god i'm not sure
exists
and i wrap myself
in the sweater i
wore the last day
i saw you.
