Several years ago....
there was a furor over the "Alaskan Pipeline," and how important it was for America's independence from foreign oil. The politicos won out and it became a reality.
I heard that the oil for America's independence was eventually sold to Japan. (would love to know the 'truth' on that...)
Is this a new slant on new money making deals? I don't believe that the oil in Texas has gone dry yet.
But perhaps a renewed interest in alternative fuels and energy needs to be addressed. But I don't think it is going to happen with this administration. Bush is just using his popularity to strike while his flame is hot.
Besides, what do environmentalists know anyway? Do they really think they know more about the environment than the President? Damn them tree huggin' geeks.
