Like David Blaine
you dazzle them
wise enough to know
not to stare
directly at the sun

blinded by the light
quarter in your pocket
a token for peace
won't buy you much
except a fast escape
Houdini straight man

Wandering the barrio
white faced heifer
reef on the shore
edge of uncertainty
drawing a crowd

each face painted
in memories long lost
lover, loser, pack of wild dogs
looking for a bone
disappearing act down pat
you sadhu a rope
climbing into the sky

fool's gold your check
juggling balls like a man
down street vaya con dios
trixter coyote smugglin' your ass
on Campbell and 14th
showman postered telepone poles
a wanted man...
