bare feet on nails lodged in sidewalk cracks
licking skyscrapers, rubbing noses in muddy parking lots
rubber tires underneath our packs
and bank envelopes spitting cash
(in ones)
failed attempt at a bright new life story
middle fingers shoved at another brand new town
memories collecting dust on the dashboard
if my past is so important, then explain to me how i threw it out the window on route 29
and left it there to shine
without me
greasy hair, gritty skin
grinding my teeth and it's the same thing over
and over
