City fairy tale

Posted to Poetry

I bet the stench
of open gutters
and cars speeding through
the airy wall
holds another surprise

Far beyond what is considered
dark or secret crawls
a spy, ambitious
little maggot, follow
the sounds, like bread crumbs
in a fairy tale

An empty can perverted
by sensual trash
grinding its teeth with
envy, rotten inside
while a shade sneaks by

...mother shouts
wanting her boy to come home
but the move is made,
his position betrayed
now the smell
is left with an easy task
sniper on the rooftop

Tears in the parents' eyes?
Who cares, after the third day
monsters are monsters again.
