Love Is a Season

Posted to Action Poetry

Love is your favorite Season
When you see it beginning
Those little green traces of love
Popping up thru the dirt
We mark it on the calendar and
Smile and say to each other
“Happy First Day of Love!”

But love is a Season
Where little things are always budding
Yet every full leaf is already
Edged in brown or gold
Like a gilt-edged invitation
To the next phase of your life.

Love is a Season
It comes and it goes
Like any cycle of Nature
That leaves no one untouched
Or unchanged by it’s
Powerful 'whether' systems.

Love is a Season
That comes in like a lamb
And goes out like a lion
But I say that
in it’s best and purest forms
It is inconsistent
And fleeting.

All else is compromise,
and settling.
