i found the book captures a feeling of freedom from normality or the "square" life style that most americans live by. It influenced the hippies in the 60s and brought drugs and free sex into the public agenda.
Dean Moriarty screams for life GO! GO! GO! a tremendous lust for life
i also like the way it captures spontaneous actions and the autobiography of the story which brings up memories of Thomas Wolfe who kerouac admired.
this is still one of my favourite novels
