thick sand air

Posted to Action Poetry

thicksand air
swirling over flat fields
of drying wheat

how can i hear
the bullets
with such sand in my teeth?

sun flecked butterflies
guide me through
dust blown tumbleweed

smaller winged things
tickle my eyes as they
cower behind my shades

flashes of gunfire
surely will hold out
til the wind subsides

up and down the
tracked hills

in the distance
horses whinney

hair thrown
trek home
white light leads
