To a large degree, this site glorifies and addresses products of the literary society--Ginsberg, Welch, Corso and others taught poetry classes at Universities. Burroughs went to Harvard. We kick around literature, but I think a lot of people here like literature. Sure, a lot of hack-writing gets published, but that's always the case. By drawing inspiration from a past generation of writers (writers who are largely discussed in academia), we're working with the "literary society" or "established literature" or whatever else you want to refer to it as.--violet9ish
(PS: I know I said "we" a lot. I do not intend to undertake speaking for everyone, so if you disagree with me, I understand that. I am simply stating some observations I have made.)
