to down boy --

never start out a story telling the reader that it's going to be about confusion, ignorance, fever for life, and bliss. Instead trot out confusion. plaster ignorance all over the place. show vivid mad fever for life. illustrate bliss in all its hallucinatory glory. jump right in and let the characters play their parts & if you do yer job right, the reader will forget that down boy is pulling the strings on the puppets & in a flash of a second you got a real story on yer hands. start the story further up the road, & burn burn burn.
