with rachel and the screaming voices in her head confined to the hotel room, i hired a noisy 250cc two stroke motorcycle using an expired go-cart licence as proof of identity and driving competance.

by this stage of the holiday i was also in what could be best described as a fragile emotional state due to lack of sleep and the rampant abuse of every substance that i could lay my hands on...

i remember riding through the centre of kuta, i remember becoming overwhelmed by a sudden tremendous feeling of hunger,i remember seeing a large set of golden arches in the distance, i remember dropping down a gear or two, popping the clutch and rocketing in the direction of my destination with one constant ricocheting thought...

i soon realised that there were a lot of cars heading towards me with flashing headlights and honking horns...i turned my head and saw a policeman running down the road, blowing a whistle and frantically waving his arms...
